In 2016, the new more challenging National Curriculum, which was introduced in 2014, was assessed by new tests and interim frameworks for teacher assessment. Results are no longer reported as levels: each pupil receives their test results as a scaled score and teacher assessments based on the standards in the interim framework.

Expected Standard

By meeting this standard, pupils are performing at the appropriate age related expectations with a scaled score of 100.

High Standard

By meeting this standard, pupils achieve higher than the national age related expectations with a scaled score of 110+.

Average Scaled Score

Pupils raw test scores are converted to scaled scores with a 100 scaled score equating to meeting national expectations.

Progress Score

Progress score of 0.0 means that on average pupils do as well as other pupils nationally with similar starting points. A positive score means that on average pupils do better than national and a negative score means pupils on average do worse than other pupils nationally.

A scaled score indicates the average mark achieved in the test papers with 100 being at age-related expectations. A score above 100 means that on average, pupils achieved better test scores than the national age-related expectation.
