World Book Day

Reading is at the heart of Mount Pleasant's curriculum. We want all our children to be fluent and confident readers and enjoy reading for life.

Each year we celebrate World Book Day, and ensure it is a much-talked and loved event by all. Children, staff and parents enjoy that we do something different to celebrate World Book day each year, such as having favourite character parades, celebrating much-loved stories, creating Reading Review Videos,  and even creating door jackets for every classroom door.

We even celebrated World Book Day during lockdown, by having covid-safe Masked Reader videos. These were created by all the teachers, for the children to guess which favourite story they were talking about. The children became so immersed in this that they too created their  own Masked Reader videos for the school to
guess.

Please take a look at some of our photographs and videos celebrating this wonderful day...

Below is one of our classes own-made fun videos in which children review a book that they recently read, namely "There's a boy in the girls' bathroom"...
